12: Have you ever attempted an "adaptation" fic of a favorite book or movie but set in a different fandom?

No! Although The Wasting Game is technically an adaptation of a poem by Philip Gross, if that counts...

13: Do you prefer canon or fanon when you write? Has writing fanfic for a fandom changed the way you see some or even all of the original source material?

I write more modern aus than canon for Merlin (usually due to extreme laziness and inability to be historically accurate). It's no secret that the canon of the show is a bit, er, lacking sometimes on plot and characterisation, and probably the greatest thing about Merlin fanfic is how skilfully some people can fill the gaps canon left.

I definitely see the Arthurian legends through the lens of Merlin now! Probably one of the greatest things about seeing them through that lens is the rehabilition of Guinevere from one-note adulteress to the delightful Gwen we all know and love <3

14: Ratings: how high are you comfortable with going? Have you ever written higher? If you're comfortable with NC-17, have you ever been shocked by finding that the story you're writing is G-rated instead?

As high as it can go, baby. *slow motion wink*

5: If you have ever had a character try to push their way into a fic, whether your "muse" or not, what did you do about it?
6: When you write, do you prefer writing male or female characters?
7: Have you ever had a fic change your opinion of a character?

23: When you post, where do you post to? Just your journal? Just an archive? Your own personal site?

I always click on the 'read more' on these all hopefully. I should know by now that it's just a big tease and reveals nothing :-)

I'll look forward to that :D

No, the other questions are showing up anyway. Are you trying to hide them behind the cut?

Edit the post.

Highlight the text you want to hide, then click on the cut icon (the pair of scissors). Type in some random amusing text instead of 'read more' (no punctuation as it doesn't take that) then save.

Should work.

LOL! Okay...
Well it doesn't help that when you post LJ doesn't show the cut unless you click on Friends Feed, so it's not instantly obvious. So blame LJ :-)

I hadn't actually thought about the redemption of Guinevere via the Merlin lens but you're right.

I think I cribbed that from a tumblr post actually haha! But it is true, and Angel was just so lovely, I'll always think of Guinevere as her now
